St. Lucie Jail Release Destinations
St. Lucie County Jail is the county's central adult local-custody facility. It holds people awaiting first appearance, bond, or trial, people serving qualifying county terms, and people waiting for another authority to take custody. That mixed role makes the word “released” incomplete without a destination. The Sheriff's timestamp proves that SLCSO custody ended. It does not, by itself, prove that the person entered the community.
A person can leave on cash or surety bond, release on recognizance, time served, dismissal, sentence expiration, or another court-authorized program. The case may continue after a pretrial release. Probation may follow a jail term. Other departures are transfers to the Florida Department of Corrections, another jurisdiction, federal authorities, or immigration authorities. Each receiving system has its own locator and record.

Confirm St. Lucie Jail Releases
The fastest official route starts with the SLCSO release report. Its live title currently describes a five-day window, despite older “48 hour” wording in Sheriff navigation. The table shows name, date of birth, and exact release date and time. It does not show release reason, booking number, charge, bond, photo, or destination.
- Search the release report and match the full name with the date of birth.
- Record the exact release timestamp instead of relying on the current roster alone.
- Use the SLCSO name search for booking detail during its five-day post-release bridge.
- Open the Clerk case or pretrial record for the legal event that authorized or explains departure.
- Follow any transfer into FDC, BOP, ICE, another county, or an authorized juvenile channel.
Recently released people can remain visible in the name search. Visibility is not proof of continued custody. The opposite error is just as serious. Disappearance from the current roster can result from transfer, delayed intake elsewhere, or expiration of the Sheriff's short public window. St. Lucie Jail Release Records
When the recent web display expires, use the SLCSO public-records portal. Ask for an existing booking and release record rather than a new explanation. Supply the full name, date of birth, approximate booking date, and a narrow period. Request the maintained release timestamp, release code or authority, and destination or receiving agency if those fields exist and are nonexempt.
The Sheriff explains that Chapter 119 does not require staff to conduct research, answer broad questions, or create a new compilation. Some inmate data, active investigative information, victim data, health information, biometric material, security details, and juvenile information may be exempt or redacted. An existing nonexempt portion can still be produced.

Jail property follows a separate documented procedure. The incarcerated person completes a release slip naming the authorized recipient. That recipient must show photo identification. Pickup is listed for Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Sheriff's Property and Evidence appointment system is not the route for inmate property.
Account questions also have a specific local route. SLCSO says deposits first satisfy the intake or booking fee, then half of later deposits goes toward outstanding debt such as daily subsistence or prior fees, with the rest available for canteen. The Sheriff does not publish the fee amounts or a final positive or negative balance process in the researched material. Aramark handles account questions at 772-462-3490, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. That documented allocation should not be turned into an unsupported claim about a bill due at the gate.
St. Lucie Jail ICE Transfers
St. Lucie County has a specific immigration-custody issue. SLCSO signed a 287(g) Warrant Service Officer agreement with ICE in February 2025. ICE describes this model as training and authorizing participating local officers to serve and execute ICE administrative warrants on people already in the local agency's custody.
The agreement does not turn St. Lucie County Jail into a public ICE detention center. It does make destination verification essential. A Sheriff “Released” timestamp can precede ICE custody rather than release to the community. When the case or maintained destination suggests ICE, use the Online Detainee Locator System and request the transfer or receiving-agency field from SLCSO when appropriate.
An ICE no-result is not conclusive. Input mismatch, protected data, intake delay, transfer, or release can each cause it. A federal pretrial hold may instead involve the U.S. Marshals Service, and a sentenced federal prisoner belongs in the Bureau of Prisons locator. The destination indicated by the case and release record determines the next search.
St. Lucie Jail Sentence Releases
Pretrial detainees do not have a sentence-based release date. Their departure depends on bond, recognizance, dismissal, another court order, or a hold. A person serving a county sentence has a different record path. Florida law requires credit for qualifying time spent in county jail before sentence, and section 951.21 authorizes county-prisoner good-conduct commutation subject to local action and individual eligibility.
The statute does not prove a particular St. Lucie award. Ask SLCSO for the maintained sentence or release calculation and compare it with the judgment, any jail-credit order, and the actual release entry. A projected date is not the hour of physical departure. A new hold, corrected credit, court action, or transfer can change the outcome.

St. Lucie Jail Facility Context
Dated statistics help describe the jail but should not be treated as current release counts. The 2022 SLCSO annual report counted 7,604 bookings, an average daily population of 1,212, and an average care, custody, and control cost of $80.81 per inmate per day. Bookings are events, not unique people, and those figures do not say how many people were released.
A 2016 Florida Model Jail Standards inspection listed a rated capacity of 1,370 and a prior-year average daily population of 1,278. Those older measures are not a 2026 capacity statement. County capital materials have identified work involving medical-wing expansion design, security-system upgrades, perimeter-fence replacement, and IT or HVAC work. They support a dated development note, not a claim that a new jail opened.
The central practical fact is more stable: this is an adult county jail, not an FDC prison, federal institution, or juvenile center. County release sources control the local custody event.
